Big E Grand Canyon Steakhouse & Saloon
Welcome to the Big E!
The Big E is the Grand Canyon dining spot to enjoy great food and great entertainment. No other Grand Canyon restaurant has this combination.
Elling “Big E” Halvorson
Elling Halvorson came to the Grand Canyon in 1963 with a mammoth job of constructing the pipeline that brings water to the South Rim from the depths of the Inner Gorge. It was a monumental task which required a fleet of helicopters and creative engineering. Elling and his wife Barbara fell in love with the canyon. Their family has provided community leadership with a commitment to creating the highest quality tourism experiences in the world. That commitment is evidenced in the Best Western Squire Inn, Papillon Helicopters, Grand Canyon Helicopters, Grand Canyon Airlines, and now the Big E Steakhouse & Saloon.
From the Magic of a Grand Canyon Sunset
to the Magic of the Main Stage at the Big E
Enjoy a great meal and an evening of entertainment at the Big E. Acclaimed Magician, Ace Carter, commands the stage 6 nights a week with amazing illusions, dazzling sleight of hand, and super-fun audience participation. Grand Canyon resident John Reuter takes the stage with his entourage to perform homegrown music as well as classic standards.
Entertainment in the showroom starts at 5 p.m. on the 200 square foot video wall showing gorgeous imagery of the region in the Wings Over Canyon feature film production.
Ace Carter hails from Seattle where he began his entertainment career. Ace is a master magician with a depth of performance experience that includes radio, cabaret, musical theatre, and improv. Ace's award winning Magic and Comedy has been featured at Seattle's historic Can Can Theatre, the McPherson Playhouse in Victoria, BC, and the Magic Castle in Hollywood just to name a few. We are very fortunate to have Ace as the resident Magician and Master of Ceremonies at the Big E.
A very talented group of performers will join John on stage. Mikayla Kramov is a multi talented very unique performer. She excels at classical, folk and rockabilly. Patrick Clark will be on fiddle. Patrick has recently toured with Darius Rucker and is the former Arizona State Fiddling Champion. Richard Neville on bass toured with Vince Gill, Poco, Ray Price, and many other Nashville acts. Grand Canyon’s own Bob Blasi will be on drums and vocals. Always a showman, some people don’t know Bob has performed with Bo Diddley, many blues players, and is a member of the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame. Brad Bays rounds out the group. He is the top guitarist in Flagstaff.
